Hogan Tractors Feature in Farmers Journal - Powering The Future

23rd March 2015

Ford and New Holland tractors have been an integral part of Dolan Agricultural Services since its establishment back in 2002 by brothers James and Billy Dolan. As the second generation of the family to own and operate Basildon built tractors, the family’s relationship with their local New Holland dealer, Hogan Tractors of Eyrecourt, Co. Galway spans 4 decades. A Ford 8210 and a Ford 7840 were the workhorses of the operation during the start-up of the baling and wrapping enterprise in 2002. A move into offering slurry and farm yard manure handling services, along with seasonal hedge cutting work meant there was a need for another tractor; another 8210 joined the fleet later in 2002.

Whilst one of the 8210’s is still regularly powering a Wakely saw machine, the remaining 8210 and the 7840 were traded in during 2006 for 2 new TM120’s. From there onwards the fleet grew organically as the workload grew;  TM155 joined the fleet becoming the new Flagship, following that in 2011 a T6080 joined the ranks, followed by its Tier 4 successor, a T7.200 delivered late in 2014.

The evolution of the product is clear to see when looking at the New Holland 8210 and the current T7 Series. Whilst the New Holland brand has always been reliable for the Dolans, comfort levels have increased with the introduction of the Front axle and Cab suspension. This combined with the Auto Comfort seat, all contained within the spacious Horizon cab offering great visibility and logical control layout, has brought about an unparalleled working environment, ideal for a long day.

The tractor development has also brought about improved productivity and visibility. “With long service intervals, engine power management, 40K Eco transmission and the use of AdBlue, the tractors are more efficient than ever, doing more work and costing less to own”, comments Billy Dolan.

“The tractors have all given us great service, and having our local New Holland Dealer nearby is a massive plus for us” comment the Dolan Brothers. “Anything from servicing, repairs or general queries relating to the tractors, Hogan’s are immediately on hand to help out and support us.

That means a lot in our industry. Hogan Tractors is a family business with Michael, Carmel and Brendan Hogan all involved day to day.

‘Big enough to cope, Small enough to care’

is the mantra under which their business operates.

With a customer base of livestock and tillage farmers as well as contractors, there isn’t much that they can’t do.”

In the 13 years that the Dolan Brothers have been operating, their business has grown from strength to strength. Starting as a baling operation, their work now encompasses baling with both balers and combination baler units, silage with a self-propelled forager, loading shovel and high capacity self-propelled mower; it’s clear to see that wise investments, professional operations and hard work has paid off .

Hogan Tractors and New Holland are proud to supply their tractor brand of choice.
